who we are
Orchard House Family Services is a national child-centred assessment and intervention service established in 2005 committed to ensuring the best outcomes for children. The safety and wellbeing of children is the central focus of our work. Our service was rated Outstanding by Ofsted in 2019.
Orchard House has two houses for residential parenting and psychological family assessments: Orchard House Middleway and Orchard House Greenway Road. We also offer therapy and services for families in their own communities.

"The quality of the parent and child assessment work carried out is excellent and a particular strength of this family centre. Families receive highly individualised and expert services from a multi-disciplinary team of professionals. Parents are given every opportunity to succeed while staff ensure that the child’s best interests are paramount. Appropriate support is given to help improve parenting capacity, but not at the expense of trying to effect change outside the remit of assessment. Therefore, timely and effective assessments are completed with clear recommendations to assist the courts and professionals in making the best decisions for children. Such practice prevents delay to children’s planning and gives children the best opportunity to form secure attachments with their permanent care givers."
what we do
Our multi-disciplinary team contribute to the work of all agencies involved in child protection through the provision of independent, social work led parenting assessments, and comprehensive psychological and risk assessments.
We also provide skilled, expert and evidence-based therapies and interventions to families.
how we help
We offer evidence-based, effective and responsive therapy and interventions for a range of difficulties, including attachment disorders, unresolved trauma, and parental mental health problems.
We offer this to parents and families who are living with us, families who have been with us, but also families in their own communities.
where we are
Orchard House Family Services is based on Canon Street, in the town centre of Taunton, Somerset. This is where we have our contact centre, our meeting rooms, our intervention centre and our offices.
As a national centre of excellence, families from all over the UK come to stay with us, including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Wight.
